Every itinerary here is a route we would actually drive, priced on the same engine as our estimator, with the driving hours shown so you can see what the trip really asks of you. Each one says what we left out and why. Prices are for a car or van with driver at the shoulder rate (July, August); hotels are yours. Verified September 2026.
Two numbers decide whether an itinerary is any good, and almost nobody publishes either: how far it is and how many of your days are spent driving. Sri Lanka is small — 430 km end to end — but the roads average about 38 km/h once you are off the expressway, so a route that looks compact on a map can eat half your holiday. Every page here shows both.
The prices work the same way as our per-route prices: you pay whichever is higher, the distance or the standby day rate, because a driver who sits with you for a week is committed whether the vehicle moves or not. We show both numbers and tell you which one you are paying.
The route builder is where you change any of it. When to come is a separate question and we have answered it with arrival numbers rather than adjectives.
