A one-way transfer means the driver comes to you, drops you and returns empty, so you are paying for both directions. A leg of a trip we are already driving has no empty return to recover. Same road, same car, same driver, and often a difference of 40%. Nobody else explains this, which is why the quotes you find online for the same run vary by a factor of five.
